How We Construct Our Cabinets

Custom cabinets are thoughtfully engineered systems of boxes, doors, drawers, and trim. What sets Texas Woodmill Cabinets apart is the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail applied at every stage.

Once your design is approved, our team prepares detailed drawings and part lists to ensure each component is precisely planned before fabrication begins.

Phase 1:

Precision Cutting of Cabinet Boxes

Cabinet box components are cut from high-quality plywood using a computerized CNC router. This process ensures each part is perfectly square, with accurately placed shelf pin holes and precisely machined dados for shelves, brackets, and structural supports.

Every measurement is controlled digitally to maintain consistency and accuracy.

Phase 2:

Face Frame Fabrication

While box components are being cut, face frames are constructed separately. Hardwood lumber is milled to exact dimensions, cut to length with digital measuring systems accurate to within 1/32 of an inch, and machined with pocket screw joinery.

Frames are glued, secured, and sanded on a wide-belt sander to create a smooth, flat surface ready for assembly.

Phase 3:

Drawer Construction

Drawer components are fabricated from high-quality 9-ply plywood using CNC technology. The router simultaneously cuts parts to size, machines the drawer bottom dado, forms the joint connections, and drills mounting holes.

For customers selecting dovetail drawers, precision machinery creates clean, interlocking joints. Drawer boxes are assembled in a controlled jig to ensure squareness and proper alignment before sanding and finishing.

Phase 4:

Door Fabrication

Cabinet doors begin as solid hardwood lumber, milled and cut with digital accuracy. Cope-and-stick joinery is machined using dedicated shapers to create strong, clean joints with added shear strength.

To reduce potential warping, center panels are constructed from carefully laminated strips. Doors are assembled under controlled pressure, sanded flat, edged to specification, drilled for hinges, hand-finished, and inspected for accuracy and alignment.

Phase 5:

Assembly & Quality Control

Once individual components are complete, cabinets are assembled with structural adhesives and mechanical fasteners to ensure lasting integrity. Moldings, toe details, drawers, pull-outs, and selected hardware are installed according to your specifications.

Each cabinet undergoes sanding, final inspection, and quality control review before being prepared for delivery in enclosed trailers, ready for professional installation in your home.
